Shame, shame. A new survey says that men have acted like jerks for so long, that women no longer expect them to be gentlemen. And if they DO take a shot at it, women become suspicious. How sad is that?!
My mother tried to teach me a lot things while growing up and I’m happy to say that the one that stuck was “always be a gentleman.” I don’t care what the survey says- “Chivalry is not dead!” Just mortally wounded a bit.
Four out of five women want to pay for their own dinner on a date. Nine in ten won’t let a man assist them if they are burdened with shopping bags. Eleven out of twelve wouldn’t take a seat if a man offered it up, and four out of five wouldn’t accept a man’s coat on a cold day.
Okay, I don’t recall if I’ve ever laid my coat down over a puddle for a woman to walk across, but c’mon ladies! This hasn’t nothing do with CONTROL or POWER or DOMINANCE. Despite the current mindset and opinions, some men just want to be, well…GENTLEMEN. So, let me say this politely as possible- get over it! I’m going to continue to insist on picking up the tab. I’m going to hold the door for you. I’m going to offer my seat if there is not one available for you. And yes, I’ll even offer my coat on a cold day. But I AM gonna want that back afterwards.
