COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Gwinnett Braves rallied for two runs in the 8th to notch a 3-2 win over the Clippers who couldn’t push across a run with their last six outs.

The winning pitcher Wednesday at Huntington Park was Wirfin Obispo (2-0) who pitched a perfect seventh in relief for the Braves and was in the game when Gwinnett scored the tying and winning runs. Scott Barnes took the loss

Columbus started the scoring in the 1st with a pair of runs and the Braves cut the lead in half in the fourth.

Vinnie Pestano and gave up the lead without recording an out in the 8th, giving up a walk and back-to-back RBI base hits to make it 3-2 Gwinnett.

The Clippers threatened in the 9th, but stranded the tying and winning runs in scoring position when Nyer Morgan lined out to center to end the game.

Game three of the four-game series is Thursday night at 6:35 p.m.
