COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Crew opened its 19th season in with a 3-0 victory over D.C. United Saturday night at RFK Stadium.

Federico Higuain scored twice and Jairo Arrieta added a goal to give sporting director and head coach Gregg Berhalter his first win in his inaugural match as Crew boss.
Arrieta opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a one-time strike on a cross from Josh Williams.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Crew (1-0-0, 3 points) doubled on Higuain’s penalty kick into the upper-right-hand corner of the net. He scored his second goal a cross from Justin Meram.

After a weekend off Columbus returns in the home opener at Crew Stadium when the Philadelphia Union comes to town on Saturday, March 22 (6:00 p.m./Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).
