Foreclosures fall to 12-year low


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Home foreclosures in Franklin County fell for the fourth straight year to their lowest level since well before the recession.

According to data from Clerk of Courts Maryellen O’Shaughnessy, 5,703 foreclosure cases were filed in 20113, 25 percent fewer than in 2012.

It is the smallest number since 2001, when 5,044 cases were filed.

The number of foreclosures has declined every year since 2009 when they peaked at 9,547.
