COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ameryst Alston exploded for 31 points and the Buckeye bench added 39 as Ohio State dominated Illinois 90-64 Thursday night at Value City Arena.
While dishing out 10 assists, Alston led four OSU players in double figures, including Raven Ferguson’s 24 and Ashley Adams’s 14 off the bench as the Buckeyes (14-10 4-4) pulled away during a 12-3 run late in the first half. Alston and Adams hit the gas pedal early in the second half and Ohio State never slowed down, outscoring the Illini 43-29 on 61.5 percent shooting from the field.
Martina Ellerbe also scored 12 points for Ohio State while pulling down nine rebounds.
Jaqui Grant led the Illini (9-12, 2-6) with 23 points.
