COLUMBUS, Ohio – A rally in the late innings came up short for the Clippers as they lost to Rochester 5-4 Thursday.
Columbus, who didn’t get their first base hit until the seventh inning, scored four runs in the eighth, but failed to tie the game. The loss is the third in a row for the Clippers.
Tyler Cloyd (1-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits in five innings. Alex Meyer (1-1) pitched five innings of no-hit ball for the win.
The final game of the four-game set and the season series between Rochester and Columbus is scheduled for a 7:05 first pitch Friday night at Frontier Field in Rochester.
