COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four of the top five fastest-growing communities in Ohio since 2010 are in Franklin County, according to new figures from the Census Bureau released today.

New Albany and neighboring Plain Township led the state in population growth, with increases of 9.9 and 8.1 percent. Hilliard (7.9%) and nearby Norwich Township (7.1%) were ranked third and fifth.

The village of Hanover, east of Newark in Licking County, was the No. 4 on the list as its population grew 7.4 percent — or 12 residents — from 921 to 933.

The population of Columbus grew from 770,122 in 2010 to 773,485 in 2012, an increase of 2.5 percent.
