COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Biological Sciences Greenhouse at OSU is waiting for its second “corpse flower” blooming in less than two weeks.
Within days of “Woody2’s” putrid bloom, “Maudine” is set to open her petals as early as Saturday.
For daily updates and information, including public visiting hours, parking, directions, and streaming live video from the greenhouse, visit the greenhouse website.
The Titan Arum, native to Indonesia, gets its nickname because of its foul smell, which many have likened to the smell of a rotting corpse.
Plant experts have watched over the flowers through germination, tuber growth, leaf production, dormancy and been rewarded with blooms less than 150 times worldwide since the plant was discovered in 1878, greenhouse manager Joan Leonard said.
