COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a tight first half Ohio State pulled away from Northwestern in the second to grab a 69-59 win in Columbus Thursday night.
The Buckeyes have won five of their last seven games and this victory snaps a two-game losing streak.
Tied at 57 with 3:31 remaining, Ohio State went on a 12-0 run over 3:11 of play to seal the win.
“Our defense at the end was key. We challenged shots a little better and the game came down to us contesting shots. At the end of the game we had one of our best defensive lineups,” head coach Thad Matta said.
Deshaun Thomas led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds, his eighth 20-point-plus game of the season.
The Buckeyes (18- 6, 8- 4) match up against Wisconsin Sunday.
