COLUMBUS, Ohio – Central Ohio’s wild winter weather will go through another swing today and it began with strong thunderstorms early this morning.
The National Weather Service says a record high temperature of 65 degrees was set at 7:18 this morning, on the heels of yesterday’s 67-degree reading.
A pair of cold fronts today brought thunderstorms and will send temperatures plummeting into the 20s by tonight.
Snow is also expected to return with the falling temperatures.
This morning’s storms prompted warnings in Franklin, Madison, Licking and Fayette counties and brought heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph.
People in an area bordered by New Orleans and Jacksonville, Florida to the south and Pittsburgh and Baltimore to the north are bracing for severe weather.
Thousands of people in the South are without electricity after storms whipped the region with quarter-sized hail and powerful winds. At least three tornadoes have been reported.
