Buckeyes fall to #1 Hoosiers

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The nation’s No. 1 men’s college basketball team was too much for the 10th-ranked Buckeyes, who lost to Indiana 81-68 on Sunday at Value City Arena.

The loss, combined with overtime loss to Michigan last Tuesday, ended Ohio State’s 121-game streak without consecutive losses, the longest in the nation.

Coach Thad Matta saw a game of missed opportunities.

“It’s tough for sure, but we just didn’t have what we needed to win this game today. We didn’t do some of the things we had to in order to win, we have to finish through contact better,” he said.

Victor Oladipo tallied 26 points and eight rebounds for the Hoosiers (21-3, 9-2) while Cody Zeller added 24 and Christian Watford scored 20.

The last time Ohio State allowed three players with 20 or more points was 1999.

“It was nothing in particular, it seemed like they played so well for a lot of the game.  They just kept their composure throughout,” said junior point guard Aaron Craft, recorded 16 points and six boards before fouling out.

Deshaun Thomas totalled 26 points and seven rebounds for the Buckeyes (17-6, 7-4).

OSU looks to end its two-game losing streak Thursday against Northwestern.
