CLEVELAND, Ohio – A reminder to protect yourself from the sun as summer approaches.
Physicians say it’s important to use the right amount of sunscreen and choose one with a sun protection factor of at least 15.
“None of us uses enough sunscreen to give us the protection we think we’re getting,” Dr. Jennifer Lucas with the Cleveland Clinic said.
Lucas says a glob of sunscreen the size of a shot-glass or golf ball is the correct amount to cover the parts of our bodies exposed while we are wearing a bathing suit.
The Environmental Protection Agency has this message when it comes to sun protection: “slip, slop, slap and wrap.”
Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a wide-brimmed hat and wrap on sunglasses.
