Suspect arrested after barricade

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Northeast Side man who held his girlfriend at gunpoint for three hours overnight has been tracked down and arrested by Columbus police.

Matthew Drake, 38, has been charged with kidnapping in the wake of a three-hour standoff with SWAT officers in an apartment building at 2462 Goldengate Square South, according to detectives.

During a domestic dispute with his live-in girlfriend shortly after midnight, Drake allegedly held Sherita Lee, 23, at gunpoint, threatening to kill her, Det. Kathy Zimmer said.

Zimmer says Lee escaped when Drake became distracted and Drake fled the scene but was later apprehended by patrol officers.
