Teen fatally shot during brawl

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police say there were several witnesses on hand when a 15-year-old boy was shot to death outside a Linden-area fast-food restaurant and investigators are asking them to come forward to help find the person who killed Kaewaun Coleman Thursday afternoon.

Police say Coleman was part of a group of Linden-McKinley High School who had left school at 3:00 p.m. when a fight broke out, during which Coleman was shot.

Officers found him in the parking lot of the McDonald’s, 2055 Cleveland Avenue, and he was taken to OSU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The teen’s death spurred more fights at the hospital, but no arrests were made.

Homicide detectives say several students and other witnesses were in the area and they are asking anyone with any information about the incident to call the Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS.
