COOLUMBUS, Ohio – The lockout-shortened NHL season begins today with the Blue Jackets on the road following a trio of early games around the league.
The CBJ are at Nashville for an 8:00 p.m. faceoff before returning to host the Red Wings on Monday.
The Los Angeles Kings will raise their Stanley Cup banner prior to facing off against the Chicago Blackhawks at 3:00 p.m.
The Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets meet in a battle of Canadian teams, while the Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In all, 13 games are on tap for the first day of the shortened season.
All 30 teams will play 48-games due to the recently ended labor negotiations and lockout, which caused the cancellation of the All-Star Game scheduled at Nationwide Arena and Winter Classic.
