934 Gallery presents the fourth annual 934 Fest, a celebration of music and art, September 13 – 14, 2019. This year’s festival takes place during Synthetic Reveries, a dual exhibition between Columbus artists Lucie Shearer and Andy Meyer. Friday, September 13, the festival will be open from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., highlighted by live music from Counterfeit Madison, Kali Dreamer, and Moonbeau. On Saturday, September 14, 934 Fest will open at 1 p.m. and continues through 11 p.m. featuring 17 bands, over 30 new murals on the gallery campus, artisans from Craftin’ Outlaws, and kids activities sponsored by the Wexner Center for the Arts. Dominique LaRue and Kashis Keyz will be headlining the festival. 934 Fest is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, September 14, the 934 Gallery Summer Music Program wraps up their 3-month long programming with a special performance featuring youth who have written a song with musical artist Sarob at 4:15 p.m., thanks to a special partnership with Dick & Jane Project, the Milo-Grogan Community Recreation Center, and Boys and Girls Club.
934 Fest is also partnering with Star House, a drop-in center for homeless youth ages 14-24 located in the Milo-Grogan community. Star House’s Wild Tiger Trees, a screen-printing social enterprise that employs youth experiencing homelessness and provides them with valuable working skills, will be printing all 934 Fest t-shirts.
A mural will also be painted by local youth connected with Star House and Visible Invisible, an organization that helps homeless youth express themselves through art. The youth muralists will be mentored by returning 934 Fest muralist Khaila Carr.
934 Fest encompasses 27,000 square feet of space, featuring two stages, a 75-foot long mural sponsored by CoverMyMeds created by artists Lucie Shearer and Andy Meyer, Street Thyme food truck, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, and craft beer from Ohio breweries Jackie O’s Brewery, MadTree Brewing and Saucy Brew Works. 934 Fest is a fundraiser to help maintain exhibitions and programming at 934 Gallery.
