SHOOTOUT FOR SOLDIERS OHIO CONTINUES GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
The 24-hour lacrosse event benefiting American veterans will take place at the new Ohio Machine stadium, Fortress Obetz, and is expected to attract a record crowd

COLUMBUS, OH (April 17, 2017) – Shootout for Soldiers, the 24-hour charity lacrosse event is expecting a record crowd in its third year in Ohio. In coordination with the Ohio Machine game the same day, the family friend event will have live music, food and exciting activities for all ages throughout the weekend.

Shootout For Soldiers is a 24-hour lacrosse event with a mission to use the platform of lacrosse to engage communities with their local veterans and support their healthy and successful transition into civilian life. Shootout For Soldiers has helped provide financial, physical and emotional support and services to United States service men and women. The Veterans Charities that we support are; Ranger Lead the Way, Semper Fi, Team RWB, The Gary Sinise Foundation and two local charities; The Columbus Honor Flight and The Buckeye Military Moms. The event is comprised of 24, 1-hour games in a row, with the 1st game our Veterans game.

“The amazing support that SFS Ohio has received from the entire central Ohio community and beyond, is what I find most rewarding,” said SFS Ohio Chair, Merry Troper.

Sponsors making SFS Ohio possible this July are Ohio Health, AEP Ohio, G&J Pepsi, The Columbus Sports Commission and the Village of Obetz . We are always looking for additional sponsorship and are talking with other business and organizations to make SFS Ohio 2017 a success.

With tremendous support from local sponsorships combined with individual team fundraising efforts, SFS Ohio is on pace to break both last year’s attendance and fundraising record. Last year’s Shootout for Soldiers Ohio drew over 1,200 players and raised more than $56,000.

“Working with the veterans, veterans organizations, volunteers, lacrosse players, parents, coaches, the SFS Ohio planning committee, the Ohio Machine and the Village of Obetz to accomplish the SFS mission is what makes SFS Ohio such a huge success,” said Troper.

Food and entertainment options will be diverse and available throughout the night. The Dave Walters Band, Midlife Crisis and Leaving Cardboard Houses are just a few of the bands slated for Saturday and Sunday. Bob’s Backyard BBQ, The Mess Hall, The Wooden Shoe Coffee and Short North Bagel and Deli will be selling food with a portion of the proceeds benefitting SFS Ohio.
