“Meeting the needs of all living in the city of delaware,” is what reverand Tracey Sumner Rr. and the members of Second Baptist Church have sought to do. As a result, “SWCI” or Second Ward Community Initiative was formed. As SWCI’s president, Reverand Sumner has been able to work and partner with other organizations to help meet the needs of all. Since moving to Delaware in 2005, Reverand Sumner has created partnerships throughout the Greater Delaware community, which allows SWCI to bring resources closer to the second ward. SWCI plans to open a community center in the spring of 2012, with the primary focus on an educational program for all 12 grades, a computer center, and space for free or assisted medical and healthcare issues.
