13 years later, she hopes Facebook will help find her good Samaritan

COLUMBUS – A high school student in Blacklick is searching for the good Samaritan who helped her family at the scene of a car accident in Tennessee when she was a young child.

Maddie Williams, 18, tells The Tennessean that she was four when her family was in a serious accident in June 2002 near Millersville, which is about 15 miles north of Nashville. Williams’ mother died in the car crash, and Williams’ brother was seriously injured.

Hoping to thank the bystander who took her out of the car and held her, Williams recently posted a public Facebook status that has since had thousands of shares.

The man who came upon the accident pulled Maddie from the car, wrapped her in one of her father’s shirts and held her while her father tried to rescue the other family members.

“He played a very important role at a horrific moment and I want to be able to thank him,” she wrote in the Facebook post.

Williams says she has since heard from emergency responders who were at the scene, but there have been no leads on the man’s name or where he is from.
