Amber Alert credited with Tennessee toddler’s safe recovery

COLUMBUS – Police are reportedly crediting an Amber Alert in Ohio for the safe recovery of a two-year-old Tennessee girl abducted by her father, who was wanted for the murder of the child’s mother.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Brooklynn Enix was found in Morrow County and her father, Tyler Ward Enix, was taken into custody.

A motorists driving north on I-71 reportedly heard the Amber Alert, issued shortly after 11:00 a.m. in Ohio, on the radio and called 911 when he believed he spotted Enix’s black 2011 Chevy Impala and called 911.

“I heard the dispatcher say ‘Oh my gosh, that’s the car, that’s the guy,” Steve Adams told WBNS 10-TV.

Adams told the television station he followed the car until it was stopped by authorities.

Officers began searching for the father and child after finding the mother dead and the girl missing on Wednesday during a welfare check, Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch said.

Police later issued a warrant charging Tyler Enix, 36, with murder in the death of Kimberly Enix.

Rausch said the couple was in the process of divorcing.

The Amber Alert system, a collaboration of law enforcement, broadcasters and other organizations, has been credited with the safe recovery of at least 773 children.
