3 shootings bring homicide total to 118

COLUMBUS – The second deadliest year in Columbus grew deadlier over the weekend with four homicides reported since late Friday night, including two on Sunday.

Two men shot to death in separate incidents Sunday became the 117th and 118th homicide victims of 2017, the deaths following those of two other men killed in a triple shooting late Friday night, police said.

Officers dispatched to the rear of 21 S. Princeton Avenue on the call of shooting at approximately 11:50 a.m. Sunday found William Golden in the alley, suffering from a gunshot wound, said Sgt. Stanley Latta of the Homicide Unit.

Golden, 60, was taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at approximately 1:00 p.m., Latta said

At 8:49 p.m. police called to the Grand Champion North Bar on E. Dublin-Granville Road found Martise Maddox-Suddith in the parking area just east of the bar, Latta said. Maddox-Suddith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had no known suspects or motives in either shooting early Monday.
