BREAKING: Active shooter at OSU

COLUMBUS – An Ohio State University spokesman says a suspect in attack on campus has been shot and killed.

Statement from The Ohio State University:
Ohio State University Police and local law enforcement continue to respond to a public safety incident on Ohio State’s campus. A suspect has been shot and reported deceased. Victim injuries include stab wounds, injury by motor vehicle and other injuries that are being evaluated. At the recommendation of law enforcement, campus alerts for shelter in place have been lifted. Campus remains open during the continued investigation, although classes have been canceled for the remainder of the day. Facts are still being verified. We will hold a media briefing as soon as we are able. The university will continue to share information through Buckeye Alert and emergency.osu.edu. Our top priority remains the safety and security of our campus community. Our thoughts and prayers are with those injured and their families.

According to the alert, the incident was believed to have happened near Watts Hall, which is near the intersection of 19th and College avenues at 10:01 a.m.

Hospital officials said eight people were treated at OSU Wexner Medical Center, Grant Medical Center and Riverside Methodist Hospital, none of them for life-threatening injuries.

According to a report on WBNS 10-TV, Columbus police says one suspect was killed. It is not clear whether or not there is a second suspect involved.

Scanner traffic indicated one suspect has been fatally shot by law enforcement, and possibly another at large, but this information is unconfirmed by police.

Reports indicate that the incident is connected to a call shortly after 9:30 a.m. involving a red SUV ramming the chemical engineering building.
