COLUMBUS – The Clippers scored in each of the first three innings on the way to a 6-1 win over the Bats in Louisville Tuesday night.
Columbus has won the first two games of the series by a combined score of 12-2.
The scoring started with a sacrifice fly by Yandy Diaz that plated Erik Gonzalez. After scoring another run in the second, the Clippers scored a third run on a line drive single to bring Diaz home and put Columbus up 3-0.
Yandy Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, lined a two-out double right field in the top of the sixth to bring Erik Kratz and Jordan Smith around to score and an RBI single by Ronny Rodriguez capped the Clippers’ scoring for the night.
Clippers starter Mike Clevinger (3-1) gave up the Bats’ run on seven hits while striking out five in six innings of work.
Lisalverto Bonilla (2-2) took the loss for Louisville, which has dropped five straight games.
The final game of the series will be Wednesday at 11:05 a.m.
