TOLEDO – A three-run home run by the Clippers’ Trenton Brooks in the second inning sparked an 8-4 win over the Toledo Mud Hens Saturday.
Gabriel Arias hit an RBI double and scored in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Arias drove in another run and scored again for Columbus, which guaranteed at least a split of the six-game series that concludes Sunday afternoon.
Kirk McCarty (8-5) struck out six batters and gave up only two runs on four hits in five innings of work to get the win.
