Clippers 9, Indians 7

COLUMBUS – Reliever Jake Jewell stifled an Indianapolis rally and the Clippers held on to beat the Indians 9-7 Friday night at Huntington Park.

The Clippers took a 9-4 lead into the eighth inning, when the Indians scored three runs to narrow the margin.

Jewell struck out the last three hitters he faced with the tying run on second base in the ninth inning to earn his second save of the season.

Trenton Brooks hit a two-run home run and Will Brennan drove in three runs for Columbus.

Nick Mikolajchak (3-2) got the win in relief.
