COLUMBUS – The Clippers are one game away from winning their 10th Governor’s Cup trophy after holding off a furious rally by the Indianapolis Indians in the second game of the best-of-five series at Huntington Park Wednesday night.
Toru Murata got the win after holding the Indians to one run over the first six innings of the 5-4 Columbus victory. Dustin Molleken retired the game’s final hitter with the bases loaded to get the save.
Michael Choice’s two-run homer to left field in the 2nd inning gave the Clippers a 3-1 lead.
The Indians cut the Columbus lead to 4-2 in the 7th before James Ramsey scored the insurance run on a throwing error by Indians first baseman Josh Bell.
Indianapolis scored twice more in the 9th before Molleken shut them down.
The series moves to Indianapolis for the final three games, starting with Game 3 Thursday night.
