COLUMBUS – In the latest round of closings due to the coronavirus, Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered Ohio’s movie theaters, gyms, bowling alleys and other gathering places to shut their doors.

Also included in the order DeWine asked Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton to issue Monday were rec centers, indoor waterparks and trampoline parks. Acton reassured residents that they would be able to get the necessities.
“We’re closing a lot of things but, please know at home…grocery stores will remain open, [pharmacies] will remain open, banks will remain open,” she said at a Statehouse briefing Monday.

New White House guidelines recommend that, for the next 15 days, Americans should not gather in groups of more than 10 people, schooling should be at home and discretionary travel and social visits should be avoided.
The state Health Department Monday confirmed 50 cases of the coronavirus in 12 counties in Ohio. The patients ranged in age from 14 to 86. Fourteen of the patients had been hospitalized.
Acton called on health care providers and food-service businesses to donate unused gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment to their local emergency management agencies.
In other developments, New Albany-based L Brands Inc announced it would temporarily close all its stores, including those of Bath & Body Works and Victoria’s Secret, in the United States and Canada through March 29 and the OSU Wexner Medical Center said is postponing elective surgeries and procedures at all of its hospitals and outpatient procedure facilities for at least two weeks beginning Thursday, March 19.
Ohio State University has postponed its spring commencement ceremony, scheduled for May 3. No new date was announced.
