A caller to the Columbus police radio dispatch center at 2:37 a.m. said a man had been shot in the 7400 block of Kirkdale Drive and the caller was taking the victim to the hospital, according to Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit.

The victim, identified as Kenneth Davis, arrived at Mt. Carmel East Hospital at approximately 2:43 a.m. and was rushed into the trauma unit but was pronounced dead at approximately 2:55 a.m., Strayer said.

Detectives were canvassing the area attempting to identify any possible witnesses to the shooting, Strayer said.
