Gas price slide continues

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Prices at Columbus-area gas pumps continued to plummet over the past two weeks, following a nationwide trend.

According to a daily survey by the AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and WEX, Inc., the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Columbus Monday morning was $2.55, 12 cents less ex[pensive than two weeks ago and 65 cenbts cheaper than last year at this time.

Oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said Sunday the average price nationwide also plunged 12 cents a gallon over the past two weeks. She says lower crude oil prices are continuing to drive prices down, along with an abundant oil supply and the rising value of the U. S. dollar.

The AAA says the average price of regular gasoline nationwide was $2.67.

The statewide average was $$2.60, 16 cents lower than last Monday.
