Ginther launches mayoral bid

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It is no surprise whose hat is the among first in the ring in the race to succeed Michael Coleman as mayor of Columbus.

City Council President Andrew Ginther (above) had scheduled a Wednesday morning news conference to declare his candidacy for the job.

“It is with great pride in our city and faith in its future that I ask the residents of Columbus for the honor of serving as their next mayor. Together, we will continue to create good jobs, invest in safe neighborhoods, and ensure that all Columbus residents share in the success of our city,” he said in a release announcing the event.

Coleman announced last month that he would not seek a fifth term.

Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott announced his candidacy last week.
