COLUMBUS – Charlotte pitchers struck out 13 Columbus hitters as the Knights beat the Clippers, 3-1, Sunday to earn a split of a six-game series at Huntington Park.
Tanner Banks (1-0) took over for starter Ricardo Sanchez in the fourth to get the win.
The Clippers were able to muster only three base hits and got their only run on a solo homer by Jhonkensy Noel in the fifth inning.
Starter Daniel Norris (0-1) took the loss for the Clippers, who open a series in Worcester, Mass., on Tuesday.
