COLUMBUS – A man is in jail after barricading himself inside a Blacklick home with his girlfriend, their two children and two other adults early Sunday morning.
Trevor Clark was arrested after a nearly three-hour standoff at the house on Havens Road, Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
A man called Baldwin’s office at approximately 6:56 a.m. to report that Clark, 30, was in the driveway of the home with a gun and threatening to shoot himself, Baldwin said.
The man reported that Clark and the caller’s daughter had been involved in a custody dispute involving their two children, ages four and six, Baldwin said.
Deputies and officers from the Gahanna Police Department responded to the scene where Baldwin said Clark had forced his way into the home through a kitchen back door before authorities arrived while Clark’s girlfriend, their daughters and the caller’s wife, hid in an upstairs room. The caller had escaped.
Clark forced his girlfriend into another room, leaving the other three in place, and after approximately one hour, SWAT officers were able to get those three out safely. Following about 40 additional minutes of further negotiations, Clark released his girlfriend and finally surrendered at 10:10 a.m., Baldwin said.
He is charged with one count of aggravated burglary and is in the Franklin County Jail but Baldwin says additional charges are possible pending further investigation.
