COLUMBUS – Columbus police are investigating the death of a man who was shot to death during an argument on the Southeast Side Monday night.
Stephon Moore was arguing with an unidentified man when there was an exchange of gunfire and one of the shots struck the 33-year-old Moore, fatally wounding him, Sgt. James Marable of the homicide unit said.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of Lockbourne Road at 7:41 found Moore suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
He died later at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, the 78th homicide victim of the year in Columbus, Marable said.
Man shot on West Side, dies across town
Police say a 52-year-old man died on the East Side late Monday night after being shot in a vehicle on the other side of the city.
Detectives say Robert Lester and another man were in a vehicle in the 1900 block of W. Broad Street in Franklinton at approximately 11:30 p.m. when Lester was shot.
Officers called to the scene did not find a victim but police responding to a reported shooting in the area of Livingston and Fairwood Avenues on the East Side found Lester, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:40 p.m. by Columbus fire personnel, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the homicide unit said.
The 34-year-old man who was in the vehicle with Lester but was not injured told police the shooting had occurred at the Franklinton location, Powell said.
This was the 79th homicide of the year in Columbus.
