COLUMBUS – Police say they planned to charge a man with murder after his wife was found fatally stabbed at an East Side apartment early Sunday morning.

Officers dispatched to a residence at the Pheasant Run Apartments just before 5:00 a.m. on a report of a disturbance found Carmen Sanchez-Capellan suffering from numerous stab wounds including a slashed neck, according to Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit.
Sanchez-Capellan, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after emergency medical personnel arrived.
The victim’s 24-year-old husband, Marielky Puello-Cruz, was also found at the apartment with what police have described as self-inflicted stab wounds, Strayer said.
He was rushed to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition and Strayer says detectives are expected to file a murder charge against him.
Witnesses told police that a heated argument between the couple turned physical and ultimately violent.
This is the 88th homicide of 2016 in Columbus.
