Meyer: Barrett “probable” for title game

COLUMBUS — Buckeye coach Urban Meyer says quarterback J.T. Barrett is “probable” for the Big Ten Championship game on Saturday.

“He’s really doing a nice job with all the rehab,” Meyer told reporters Monday at his weekly news conference.

Barrett left the game with a knee injury in the third quarter of last Saturday’s win over Michigan and Meyer says the senior quarterback did not practice Sunday.

The decision whether to start Barrett or backup Dwayne Haskins will be made later in the week.

Meyer said after the game that contact with someone not involved with the game on the Ohio State sideline caused aggravated a meniscus injury in Barrett’s knee and the coach said Monday that he believed sideline areas were becoming too crowded during games.

“It’s too much now. And I know I can speak on behalf of our sideline — and I’m disappointed — from this point forward there will be no human being near our sideline that’s not [involved with the team’s game operations],” he said.

Meyer said the Department of Athletics administration is following up on his call for an investigation into what happened.
