Ohio surpasses 200K COVID-19 cases

COLUMBUS – Ohio recorded its 200,000th COVID-19 victim Monday.

The 200,231 confirmed and probable cases reported by the Ohio Department of Health was 2,116 more than Sunday. 

The state reported record-high numbers of new daily cases each day from Wednesday through Saturday, when 2,858 cases were reported to the state Department of Health.

The number of hospitalizations rose by 140 and there were 35,137 active cases, an increase of 1,064 since Sunday.

Ohio hospitals have treated 18,235 COVID-19 patients since the onset of the pandemic in March and the number increased by 413 by Sunday.

There have been 5,217 deaths due to the disease since the pandemic began.
