COLUMBUS – Three people, including a husband and wife who died in a case of murder-suicide, were killed in separate incidents minutes apart Wednesday night.
UPDATE 2/24/23 7:48 a.m.: The victim in this homicide has been identified as Michael Sarratt, 36.
Officers responding to on a reported shooting in the 2000 Block of Rankin Avenue on the Northeast Side at 9:41p.m. found a man inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.
Officers rendered first aid until Columbus Division of Fire paramedics arrived and took the 36-year-old man, whose name was not released, victim to a local hospital where he died about an hour later.
Detectives are still working to identify a suspect and the circumstances that led to this incident, Shimberg said.
The identity of the victim will be released following notification of his family.

One minute later, officers responded to a home in the 3000 block of Parsons Avenue after family members said they received a call that Edward Sluder, 55, had killed his 57-year-old wife, Marion, and was going to take his own life, Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Homicide Unit said.
The officers found both victims inside the home, where they were pronounced dead by Columbus Division of Fire personnel. Pilya said.
