Three dead in weekend gunfire

COLUMBUS – Three people were killed and several others injured in separate shooting incidents late Saturday and early Sunday.

The total number of homicides in Columbus this year now stands at 105.

Shots were fired after someone pulled a handgun during a fight that broke out during a gathering in the 5500 block of E. Livingston Avenue at approximately 4:32 a.m. and three women, Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

Shamira Rhodes, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene by Truro Township paramedics, Marable said.

A 17-year-old girl who had also suffered a gunshot wound left the scene and a 42-year-old woman later arrived at Mount Carmel East hospital by private conveyance and is in stable condition, Marable said.

Investigators are still attempting to determine what prompted the dispute, Marable said.

Trevor Seymour, 52, was shot to death outside a motorcycle club in the area of E. 5th Avenue and Osborn Street at approximately 11:06 p.m. Saturday and was pronounced dead at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

Three other men went to OSU Wexner Medical Center East and were treated and released.

None of the witnesses at the scene cooperated with investigators, Pilya said.

At 12:53 a.m. Sunday, officers responding to a reported shooting in the 1200 block of E. 18th Avenue found an unidentified man suffering from a gunshot wound, Sgt. Mike Smith of the Homicide Unit said.

UPDATE 9/26/22 6:54 a.m.: Police have identified the victim in this homicide as Gavin Osborne, 21.

The victim died at the scene, Smith said.

A person of interest was detained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Smith said.
