COLUMBUS – A 24-year-old East Side woman has been charged with child endangering after her three-year-old son shot himself with her handgun while she was sleeping.
Damira Crowder told police that she keeps a handgun in the upstairs bedroom of her home in the 700 block of Kelton Avenue and her son found it while she was sleeping just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday and shot himself in the lower abdomen, detectives said.
The boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he underwent surgery and his condition was later upgraded to stable.
