WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Ohio State made a couple of late runs but Purdue had the final answer as the Boilermakers pulled away late for a 60-42 victory in the Big Ten opener for each team Friday afternoon.
Carmen Grande had a second-consecutive solid game leading the Buckeyes (4-6, 0-1) with 11 points and six assists.
Najah Queenland made a pair of threes and finished with seven points while Carly Santoro and Makayla Waterman each chipped-in with six points.
Dominique Oden, Ae’Rianna Harris and Karissa McLaughlin combined for 49 of the Boilermakers’ 60 points, Oden dropping 20 points on her own.
Purdue (10-4, 1-0) was able to put the game away with a 13-1 run over the final 6:56.
The Buckeyes return to the Schottenstein Center on New Year’s Eve for a matchup with Nebraska.
