COLUMBUS – Police are searching for the suspects who burst into a Northeast Side home late on Thanksgiving night and shot a 41-year-old woman to death in the 95th homicide of the year in Columbus.
Officers responding to the report of a shooting at a house in the 1500 block of Vendome Drive South just before 11:00 p.m. Thursday found Christie Howard lying on the floor suffering from gunshot wounds,
Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.
Howard, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus Division of Fire paramedics.
Witnesses told police that unknown suspects forced their way into the back of the home, shooting Howard several times before they fled in an unknown direction, Strayer said.
There is no known motive for the shooting,which remains under investigation, Strayer said.
