COLUMBUS – Zoombezi Bay’s longest water slide is about to become the first in the country to give riders a chance to experience a light and music show on their way down.
Zoombezi Bay, at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, kicks off summer with a weekend opener May 21-22. The park will be open daily from May 26 – Aug. 21 and on weekends through Labor Day.

The weekend sneak peek which will give visitors the first chance to ride the nation’s first water slide of its kind: “SoundSurfer: King of the Beats.”
The redesigned version of the Tahitian Twister carries two to five riders down 512 feet of acceleration drops and vortex loops to the accompaniment of their choice from one of eight musical options, including pop, metal, hip-hop and country, and a kaleidoscopic light show, park officials said.
On May 22, Zoombezi Bay is hosting a Sneak Peek Sunday program benefiting military families. For every 24-pack of Pepsi products purchased at central Ohio Kroger locations on or before May 20, a military family will receive complimentary passes to Zoombezi Bay on Sneak Peek Sunday.
