COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Bond was set at $1.1 million for a central Ohio man who police say confessed to beating and strangling his pregnant girlfriend before burying her beside a cornfield.

Another hearing was set for Oct. 31 for Jacob Ferrero during an initial court appearance in Columbus on Thursday.
Ferrero, 22, told police he beat Samantha Greenlee, also 22, with a baseball bat, strangled her and then buried her, burning the apartment they shared two days later. He confessed his involvement in the fire and Greenlee’s killing late Tuesday night, and led police to her body near a church in Groveport early Wednesday.
He is charged with murder and aggravated arson.
No attorney was listed for him in court records.
