COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police have arrested a man on a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting on the Northwest Side Saturday afternoon.
SWAT officers caught up with Ishmael Humphrey, 23, on Sunday. He has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Isaac Keels, who was driven to a Columbus Fire Station on Smokey Row Road shortly after 4:30 p.m., homicide detectives said.
Keels was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigators say Keels was shot in the area of 2581 Sanbury Boulevard.
This is the 44th Homicide in Columbus in 2014.
Police are still looking for a suspect in a double shooting earlier on Saturday that left one man dead and another injured.
Officers responding to a reported shooting in the area of N. 9th Street and E. 5th Avenue shortly after 3:15 a.m. found Stevaun Jessie and Christopher Maxwell in the rear of a home on E. 4th Avenue, detectives said.
Investigators say Jessie, 20, had been shot in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Maxwell, 20, was also shot in the upper body and hospitalized in stable condition.
Detectives say the two were driving southbound on N. 9th Street from East 5th Street when they were shot and their vehicle came to rest behind the home at 662 East 4th Avenue.
This was the 43rd homicide of 2014.
