1 dead, 1 hurt in NE Side shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police had identified no suspects in an overnight shooting in South Linden Saturday that resulted in the death of one man.

Officers checking out a reported shooting at 1561 Cordell Avenue shortly before 1:30 Saturday morning found Brian Floyd, Jr., inside the suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, detectives said. Floyd, 33, was taken to al hospital in stable condition.

After obtaining additional information, the officers found James Williams, Jr., at 1559 E. Blake Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, investigators said. Williams, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:58 a.m., police said

Detectives say their initial investigation indicates both men were shot inside the Blake Avenue home.

This is the 70th homicide of 2014 in Columbus.
