1 dead, 1 hurt in stabbing

COLUMBUS – One man was dead and another remained hospitalized after being stabbed outside an Northeast Side gas station Tuesday night.

Columbus police say officers found Harry Wright Jr. and an unidentified 35-year-old man outside the Mobil gas station at Cleveland Avenue and Weber Road at approximately 9:51 p.m.

Both men were suffering from stab wounds to the upper body, according to Sgt. Stanley Latta of the Homicide Unit.

Wright died about an hour later at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

The second man, whose name Latta says is not being released for safety reasons, is in stable condition.

Latta says the victims had previous contact with the suspect and they knew each other.

Information is being gathered to positively identify the suspect and the case remains under investigation.

This is the 16th homicide of 2018 in Columbus.
