1 dead, 1 injured in 2 shootings

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police have charged two men in one of two shootings late Tuesday night, one of them fatal, the other potentially so.

Homicide Unit detectives say Brian Hill, 45, and Terry Nichols, 46, were each charged with one count of felonious assault in the near-fatal shooting of Patricia Pallenberg.

Pallenberg, 54, was found in front of a home at 2174 McGuffey Road at 10:46 p.m., but think she was shot a few blocks away, at 882 E. Hudson Street. She had been shot once in the upper body and was not expected to survive as of early Wednesday morning, according to detectives.

A man died about an hour after being found shot multiple times inside a Southwest Side apartment and a woman was clinging to life after being shot on a North Side street.

Officers found Garland Willoughby, 28, shot several times inside an apartment at 826 Wedgewood Drive at approximately 11:59 p.m., Homicide Unit detectives said.

He was taken to Mt. Carmel West Medical Center by Columbus Fire medics, but died less than an hour later, police said.

Investigators say they have no motive or suspect. This is the eighth homicide of the year.
