COLUMBUS – Columbus police are investigating the third fatal shooting in four days, the latest one the death of a 19-year-old man in a double shooting early Thursday morning.
Dante McCormick was found lying in front of a home in the 2700 block of Pontiac Street in North Linden at 1:21 a.m. by officers responding to a reported shooting, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers also located a second victim, Tazion Germany, 19, who was suffering from a gunshot wound, in front of a home a few doors away, Shimberg said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Shimberg says Germany underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
This is the 41st homicide in Columbus and the fourth in five days, including the death of a 7-year-old boy as a result of his mother’s alleged “severe abuse.”
