UPDATE: Arrest in library parking lot triple shooting

COLUMBUS – An 18-year-old man was killed and two other people, including a 17-year-old, were injured when an argument turned violent in the parking lot of an East Side library branch Monday night.

UPDATE 2/5/20 3:39 p.m.: Police say a witness came forward information leading to the arrest Wednesday morning of 19-year-old Antonio Malone Jr. who has been charged w/felonious assault.

Police say ShotSpotter technology detected shots fired in the parking lot of the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Driving Park branch, 1422 E. Livingston Avenue, just after 7:45 p.m. after an argument involving a large group of people escalated to violence, Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit said.

Officers found Jeremiah Williams lying in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound and Columbus fire personnel transported him to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:34 p.m.

Anthony Marcell Williams Jr., 20, and an unnamed juvenile were also found at the scene and taken to Grant Medical Center. Marable said.

Police say the three were brothers.

The initial investigation revealed that an argument occurred in the parking lot involving a large group of people when Marable said the altercation escalated, resulting in all three victims being shot.

This is the 11th homicide in Columbus in 2020.
