COLUMBUS – Columbus has recorded more than 100 murders in 2020, thanks in part to a long, violent holiday weekend.
Columbus police say three people were shot or stabbed to death, one man died in an auto accident after he was shot at, and nine other people were injured in separate incidents between Thursday and early Tuesday.
A man who was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Sunbury Market, 1485 Sunbury Road at 2:50 p.m. Monday was the 101st homicide of the year, according to Columbus police.

Dezujwuan Pyfrom, 20, was parking his truck on the lot of the market when two black males began shooting at the truck, one of the bullets striking Pyfrom, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Homicide Unit Sgt. James Marable said.
One of the suspects drove away from the scene in a black Dodge.
The 100th homicide victim of the year was a 22-year-old woman found stabbed to death in a Northeast Side alley Monday morning.
A man called police just before 9:30 a.m. and reported that he found a woman in an alley in the 1600 block of E. Hudson Street and believed she was dead, Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Homicide Unit said.
Officers found Keira Ayers suffering from stab wounds and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No witnesses have come forward and Pilya says there is no suspect information at this time.

UPDATE 9/18/20 8:14 a.m.: Police have released the name of the victim in the following incident.
One man is under arrest in connection with the stabbing death of a 61-year-old man who was found in Bicentennial Park downtown early Sunday.
Officers in the area of 233 Civic Center Drive at approximately 2:06 a.m. were flagged down by a concerned citizen who asked them to check on a man lying on the ground in the park and not moving, said Sgt. Doug Jones.
The officers found Michael Russell bleeding from multiple puncture wounds and not moving so Jones says the officers began CPR.
The man was transported by Columbus paramedics to a hospital, where he died just before 2:30 a.m., the 99th homicide victim of the year.
Detectives arrested Emmanuel Bridges, 31, and charged him with murder, Jones said.
A man who was injured when someone shot at his vehicle Thursday night died Friday afternoon, police said.
Exavier Shipley, 20, lost control of his vehicle in the 4000 block of E. Livingston Avenue when someone in another vehicle fired shots at him just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Marable said.
Shipley’s vehicle struck a parked car and Shipley was pronounced dead just after 3:00 p.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel East Hospital.
It was not immediately clear if the man died as a result of the shooting or from injuries sustained in the accident.
This was the 97th homicide of the year. A 16-year-old who died as a result of injuries sustained in a shooting last month was the 98th homicide victim.
A 33-year-old man was charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting his roommate in the foot during an argument at their home on S. Powell Avenue Friday morning, police said.
Five men and one woman were injured in separate incidents over the three-day weekend, including a man and woman shot while driving in the area of S. High Street and Frederick Street Saturday morning and a man who was hurt when he was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle outside the Outlet Smoke Shop, at 6091 McNaughten Center on the East Side Saturday, police said.
Shot Spotter technology alerted officers to shooting incidents that resulted in injuries, including one in the 400 block of S. Wheatland Avenue that left an 18-year-old man in critical condition at Grant Medical Center late Monday and another at the Sunoco gas station at 1799 E. Hudson Street at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday.
